Alana 15 Months

Last week, Alana got ill for the first time.  She contracted a nasty stomach virus from school, and was not able to eat for a couple of days.  She had to come off milk for about a week!  Every time we tried to feed her some milk, she threw up.  It was a lot of learning on our part, since we never had to deal with that before.  I felt so bad for her because she was so hungry, but we couldn't give her milk.  She was able to tolerate Soy milk, so that helped.  It was a miserable time for all of us, because she passed on her virus to Jeff first.. then me!  My stomach was cramping up so much, I was afraid for the baby and thought I might be having contractions!  Luckily, it was only stomach cramps.  The baby is fine and stronger than ever.

We thought after that experience that she would have lost some weight, but she doesn't seem to be any thinner.  She had her Well Baby checkup last week, and she is 80th percentile in weight (29 lbs. 9 oz) and about 70th in height (29.5 inches) tall.

Alana 14 Months

Alana has been changing so much lately.  She is talking a lot now, saying a few words here and there.  She points at things and says "What's That?" and she seems to understand everything we say.  Her funniest blunder is saying "die" instead of "bye".  She has only done that once so far when waving good-bye to her teachers at school, but it was really funny.

We have been trying to wean her off the bottle and onto a sippy cup.  She is ok with the sippy but selective about it.  She still prefers her milk bottle, especially at school.  She is completely off the pacifier now!

She is still the happiest baby and has such a great personality.  Very playful and always smiling.  It seems that her teeth are coming in because she has been drooling a lot lately.  I've been teaching her about babies and playing with her baby doll.  We sing to the baby and we cuddle the baby and we kiss the baby.  I hope she will be ok when the baby arrives.  We only have about 10 more weeks to go!
